SIMPLE & USEFUL

DESIGNS

logoimageleer150x150

As a UX designer, I consider everything from several different perspectives and I never stop looking for something to tweak or improve. That isn’t always easy, but if there’s one thing I can say about my work:
it’s rewarding.

WHAT DOES UX SIGNS OFFER?

ANALYSIS & RESEARCH

After reviewing the current status quo, the business goals and requirements and the product strategy, the main focus is on the user. Who is he or she, or who is the target audience? User needs and requirements are analysed and the demands on the product are assessed from the user’s perspective.

VISUAL & CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

The conceptual design can easily and effectively be visualised and verified using prototypes. These prototypes can be used for internal coordination and also provide an excellent basis for user testing. After finalising the conceptual design, the next step is the visual design, which is based on corporate design guidelines and reflects the brand.

EVALUATION

After (and ideally also during) the design process, the product is evaluated to assess how well it meets user requirements. A broad spectrum of methods is available for this process. Choosing the right method depends on the goal to be assessed.

PROMPT ENGINEERING & CHAIN-OF-THOUGHT (COT) PROMPTING

As a UX designer, it is important to me to understand the needs of users and offer them the best possible user experience. This also includes giving them the opportunity to solve complex tasks easily and intuitively.
Prompt engineering is about designing the input parameters for a language model in such a way that it delivers the desired result. Chain of Thoughts Prompting is a special form of prompt engineering in which the language model is encouraged to represent a step-by-step solution to a problem.
These two techniques combine perfectly to develop user-friendly AI solutions. Through prompt engineering, I can ensure that the language model receives the right information to solve the task. Chain of Thoughts Prompting allows me to make the solution process transparent and thus increase user-friendliness.

WHO IS UX-SIGNS?

MIREILLE

I’m no digital native, I’m more of a digital dinosaur and have been working in the online business since 1997. For the first 10 years, I mostly worked with agencies as an online art director, but since 2008, my main focus has been on user experience. My job is to assess user requirements and needs, so they can simply and effectively be covered in the product. In this process, I never lose sight of the business goals and the brand.

I’ve been involved with acrobatics, animal welfare and design ever since my childhood. As a child, I always loved playing around, and today I live this passion through snowboarding and wakeskating. I’ve been a vegetarian since I was 13 – I wasn’t allowed to stop eating meat before so I could still continue to grow – but I actually stopped at 5′5″ ;). I used to staple, glue and spray my clothes, and so I ended up studying fashion design so that I could finally design and make my own clothes. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it very much when strangers wore my clothes, so I was drawn to costume design for theatre. It was my dream to design the costumes for a fairy tale film, but sadly, that always remained a dream. In 1995, I discovered computers for myself and started illustrating costumes with Corel Draw while avidly playing Elevator and Summer Games. This led me to undergo training in multimedia and desktop publishing from 1996 to ’97.

After that, I worked as an art director for various companies and agencies for 10 years. I primarily worked on designing and developing digital media with a focus on digital user interfaces, especially for online media. During this time, I also developed corporate designs and did the layout for print products.

Since 2008, I have offering my services as a user experience designer to a variety of companies. The epiphany that set me off on this path came during a project with subsequent testing at a usability lab. Ever since that experience, usability and usefulness have become more important for my work than visual design and hypothetical use scenarios – ideally, design always combines the functional with the aesthetic.

I am living vegan since the beginning of 2017  – vegan for the animals & mother nature.
